DSC deal with Emicool makes it a cooler place to live Tie-up will provide chilled water to the DSC community

DSC, were present at the signing of the agreement at The Els Club in DSC on December 28, along with Ahmad Al Marri, Board Director at Emicool, and Adib Moubadder, CEO of Emicool. Commenting on the tie up, Zarooni said, “DSC has partnered with the experts to deliver quality services to its residents. There are significant environmental benefits as the technology is ozone friendly and the water can be recycled for further use in the cooling process.

“There is also a comfort factor as there is a reduction in noise and vibration associated with conventional air conditioning units.”

Emicool will use state-of the-art industrial chillers to cool bulk quantities of water to 4.5°C, monitoring the process around the clock to en- sure 100 per cent reliability.

Chilled water will be pumped into a thermal storage tank at a district cooling station that has significant capacity to deal with fluctuations in demand. The water will flow through a network of specially insulated underground pipes from the plant into each building within the community. It will then be recycled through the pipe network back to the cooling plant, ensuring efficient use of the resource.

Moubadder said, “We are proud to announce this strategic alliance with DSC.

As an industry leader in district cooling, Emicool will take the initiative to deliver quality services to its customers by moving towards more sustainable production and less carbon emissions. With such rapid growth at DSC, Emicool has the potential to match the demand for more than 90,000 tonnes of refrigeration in the area.

Moreover, sub-developers in the community can also use the service. Zarooni said, “For sub-developers, this agreement has the potential to offer significant cost savings should they wish to avail of the service.

The technology reduces operating costs by eliminating the need to maintain on site air-conditioning units, as well as offering space within properties that would otherwise have been used for those units.

“But best of all, the pipes have already been placed so developers can take advantage of their availability.”
